How to use your humanity to create change in another person

Sep 30, 2014

What I am about to propose to you :-

  • is a leading edge approach
  • it’s about making your people indispensable
  • it’s about them becoming a Linchpin

What is that you ask?
A linchpin is an individual who can walk into chaos and create order, someone who can invent, connect, create and make things happen.
They make a difference
We re talking emotional labour here.  People bringing their whole self to work and engaging in tasks that require maturity and personal strength.  Doing things for the right reason.  they are givers of gifts.  And they understand it is not about reciprocity, but about bringing people together.  They are brave enough to  make a difference.  And they know personality and attitude are more important than the product.

” Art, or at least art as I define it, is the intentional act of using your humanity to create a change in another person.  How and where you do that art is a cultural choice in the moment”

No-one wrote novels 100 years ago
No-one made videos 30 years ago
No-one twittered poetry 5 years ago

What if we created :-

  • a different way of seeing the customer
  • a different way of giving something to the customer
  • a different way of making a living with the same customer

And most importantly, what if that could be done without anybody leaving their job?

What’s stopping us?  Past learning has said we had to fit in, comply, follow instructions in exchange for a days pay.  This notion is saying be a contribution and use your art…..bring your true self in to work and be a contribution.  It’s about relationships, stories and magic.

We can’t all live a life in the performing arts, but we can live a life enhanced by them!!
